Leading On-Line Supplier of Smoke Detectors, Alarms and Accessories- Safe Shopping
We supply a fantastic range of Smoke, Carbon Monoxide (CO) and natural gas detectors to suit all scenarios.
A working smoke alarm or CO detector is an essential piece of home safety. An alarm/detector will provide a vital early warning and potentially life-saving extra time should the worst occur. Every home should have at least one working fire alarm.
Smoke alarms give you that extra time because they detect smoke or flames normally well before they could be either smelt or heard.
We supply alarms and detectors suitable for use in homes, offices, student flats and accomomdation, caravans and portable ones for holiday safety.
Smoke alarms do what they say on the tin- that is they detect both slow burning or smouldering fires right through to raging ones- the different types of detection modes offer differing fire protection properties.
In households where gas applicances are present i.e. gas fires, gas cookers or boilers it is strongly recommended that carbon monoxide (CO) alarms or detectors are fitted to detect potentially life threatening gas leaks. Often smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detector are sold as separte units, howvere we do offer a combined detector.
Worried about leaving your gas hob or fire on? Think your boiler or fire supply may have a leak? We supply and range of detectors and alarms suitable for the detection of leaking household gas, liquid gas and natural gas
Alongside all the products we supply, including replacement batteries for smoke alarms, we do have series of useful articles and information pages. These include:where to fit a smoke alarm or detector, what types of alarms are available, looking after your smoke alarm, what is carbon monoxide, why does my smoke alarm keep "chirping" or beeping?
We recommend that you buy alarms from reputable and respected manufacturers- they should all comply with the relevant British Standard.
Buying and fitting smoke alarms or carbon detectors is a relatively simple task, but remember they will only be useful if they are working..Please follow the manufacturers instructions, but we recommend:
- Once every week test each alarm by pressing the test button- you should hear the alarm working. If you have alarms that are connected check it sets all the alarms off.
- Once a year chnage the battery (unless its mains powered or a 10 or 15 year alarm)
- Twic a year- opne the alarm outer casing (if its designed to be opnened) and hoover away the dust/debris.If your model is not designed to be opnened then simply perfomr the clean through the holes.
- After 10 years we suggest a complete replacement alarm.
- If you cant perform the above please get someone to do the check for you- in many areas the local Fire Brigade will perform safety checks and even install alarms for free.
- If you are the neighbour to someone who may not be able to check their own alarm then take the opporutnity to potentially save someones life and pop round and do it for them.
